LTE 4G:

LTE Protocol structure mainly includes NAS, Layer3, Layer2, Layer1

Layer3 includes RRC

Layer2 includes PDCP, RLC and MAC

Layer1 includes Physical Layer

RRC is the main control thing which can have communication between all Protocols and Phy Layer

Data Plane flows flows from Internet Protocol IP to PDCP to Phy Layer in which NAS and RRC are not included

Control Plane flows from NAS to Phy Layer via RRC

5GNR:

5GNR Protocol structure mainly includes NAS, Layer3, Layer2, Layer1

Layer3 includes RRC

Layer2 includes SDAP, PDCP, RLC and MAC

Layer1 includes Physical Layer

Note: A new Protocol SDAP has been introduced in 5G which is not available in 4G

SDAP layer is required when a Base Station is connected to the 5G core network. It is only applicable to the user plane

The Primary task of SDAP is to map QOS flow which is received from Internet Protocol IP to a data radio bearer

Multiple QoS Flows can be mapped onto a single DRB, or a single QoS Flow can be mapped onto a single DRB

Data Plane flows flows from IP to SDAP to Phy Layer in which NAS and RRC are not included

Control Plane flows from NAS to Phy Layer via RRC
